La literatura en los márgenes: periferias urbanas en la narrativa española contemporánea

[spa] La presente tesis tiene como principal objetivo investigar la presencia de las periferias urbanas en la narrativa española contemporánea, desde los años cincuenta hasta las dos primeras décadas del siglo XXI. Para este fin, se presentan los principales autores sensibilizados con esta cuestión y se analizan las características estilísticas y las retóricas propias de cada corriente literaria del arco temporal estudiado. Asimismo, en esta investigación se examina el significado sociocultural que adquieren estos espacios marginales y/o periféricos a lo largo del periodo analizado. Para esta propuesta, nos centramos en un corpus de obras literarias que relatan realidades complejas de orden geográfico, histórico, social y cultural, tales como el éxodo rural, la inmigración, la problemática de la clase obrera, políticas urbanísticas, o debates suscitados en torno al binomio formado por centro y periferia, entre otras cuestiones. Estas cuestiones se convierten en materia literaria que se adaptan a las diferentes formas narrativas y estéticas literarias. Las obras escogidas permiten trazar un recorrido dividido en tres momentos clave: de la década de los cincuenta hasta mediados de los sesenta, la Transición y las dos décadas transcurridas del siglo XXI. La década de 1.950 la analizamos desde la óptica de las corrientes realistas del Medio Siglo hasta la renovación literaria en los sesenta. El periodo de la Transición lo abordamos desde dos perspectivas: en primer lugar, las obras publicadas durante la gestación del régimen democrático que destacan la importancia desempeñada por los extrarradios en la construcción de una ciudad democrática; en segundo lugar, las novelas que relatan, a la vez que analizan y cuestionan, los acontecimientos con una distancia temporal y condicionado por la memoria. Cerramos el ciclo con el análisis de la configuración literaria de la periferia urbana en tres obras de reciente publicación y adscritas al género de la nueva novela social. Con la selección de un corpus de obras que abarca una cronología amplia, nos proponemos llevar a cabo un análisis exhaustivo de la evolución de la representación de la periferia urbana en la novela contemporánea española. En este sentido, la presente investigación pretende cubrir un vacío en los estudios sobre la novela urbana española.

[eng] The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the presence of urban peripheries in contemporary Spanish narrative, from the fifties to the first two decades of the 21st century. For this purpose, the main authors presented and analyzed are sensitive to the stylistic characteristics and rhetoric of each literary current of the studied epoch. Likewise, this research examines the sociocultural meaning that these marginal and/or peripheral spaces acquire throughout this period. For this proposal, we analyze a corpus of literary works that relate complex realities of a geographical, historical, social, and cultural order, such as the rural exodus, immigration, the problems of the working class or urban policies, among other issues. This conjuncture establishes a dividing line between center and periphery that becomes literary matter. With the selection of the works, we trace a journey divided into three key moments: from the fifties to the mid-sixties, the Transition, and the beginnings of the 21st century. We analyze the 1950s from the point of view of the realist currents of the Mid-Century up to the literary renewal in the sixties. We approach the Transition period from two perspectives: firstly, the works published during the gestation of the democratic regime that highlight the importance played by the suburbs in the construction of a democratic city; secondly, the novels besides relating, they analyze and question, the events with a temporal distance. We close the cycle with the analysis of the literary configuration of the urban periphery of three works published in the last two decades and attached to the genre of the new social novel. With the selection of a corpus of works that covers a wide chronology, we intend to carry out an exhaustive analysis of the evolution of the representation of the urban periphery in the contemporary Spanish novel. In this sense, this research aims to fill a gap in studies on the Spanish urban novel.
