Anàlisi climatològica de la sèrie de 50 anys de la ciutat de Vic

Abstract

En aquest treball s'analitza la sèrie de dades de temperatura i precipitació de l'observatori de Vic (Osona, Catalunya) en el període comprès entre 1950 i 2006.

L'anàlisi inclou l'estudi de l'homogeneïtat de la sèrie, l'obtenció dels trets bàsics del clima de Vic, la detecció de possibles tendències de temperatura i precipitació, i el seu enquadrament dins del marc de l'escalfament global.

L'estudi de l'homogeneïtat s'ha portat a terme amb tests d'homogeneïtzació absoluta (Von Neumann, Thom) que han fet sorgir dubtes pel que fa a l'homogeneïtat de la sèrie, sobretot respecte a les temperatures.

S'aha realitzat un tercer test per tal de detectar si hi ha variabilitat climàtica (test de Roberts, Rodriguez i Martin-Vide). Els resultats semblen indicar que hi pot haver hagut escalfament, tot i que també els canvis d'emplaçament de l'observatori podrien haver condicionat les dades.

Mitjançant tests estadístics s'han estudiat les tendències, comparant les variàncies i les mitjanes (distribució de F de Snedecor per a les variàncies, i normal o t de Student per a les mitjanes). No hi ha tendències significatives pel que fa a precipitacions però sí per a les temperatures, que han patit un augment evident.

Finalment s'han comparat els resultats obtinguts amb d'altres estudis sobre el canvi climàtic i s'ha constatat que les dades de Vic estan en línia amb els resultats del 4t IPCC, amb un augment de temperatures fins i tot superior. També són coherents amb altres estudis realitzats a Espanya.

This master's thesis analyzes the precipitation and temperature records of the Vic observatory (Catalonia, Spain) between 1950 and 2006.

The analysis includes the study of the homogeneity of the series, the characterization of the main features of Vic's climate, and the detection of temperature trends and their consistency within the framework of global warming.

The homogeneity has been tested with absolute homogenization tests (Von Neumann, Thom). Some doubts have emerged about its randomness, especially with the temperature variable.

A third test has been carried out to detect climate variability (Roberts, Rodriguez and Martin-Vide¿s test). Results seem to indicate that there has been some warming, although changes in the location of the observatory might have had some influence on the data.

Statistical tests have been applied to look for tendencies, comparing means and variances (t-Student and F-Snedecor, respectively). No significant trends are observed in the precipitation data. However, the increase is apparent for temperature.

Finally, results have been compared with other climate change studies. It turns out that Vic¿s data behaviour are consistent with the outcome of the 4th IPCC, with even a higher increase in temperature. They are also coherent with other studies carried out with other Spanish series.
